After a whopping 24 years, a Delhi court has finally ordered charges to be pressed against four people involved in the infamous 2000 India vs South Africa match-fixing scandal. This is a big development in one of Indian cricket’s darkest chapters. So, who are these four people, and what happens next?

The Accused:

The court has named Rajesh Kalra, Krishen Kumar (of T-Series fame), Sunil Dara, and Sanjeev Chawla as the accused. The evidence suggests they all conspired together to fix the outcome of the match for personal gain.

The Evidence:

The court based its decision on a 68-page order, citing evidence that includes records of conversations and other details linking the accused to the fixing scheme. They believe there’s enough proof to charge them under Indian Penal Code sections related to criminal conspiracy and cheating.

A Match Without Thrill?

The court also highlighted the importance of fair play in cricket. They pointed out that knowing the outcome beforehand takes away the excitement and spirit of the game.

But Wait, There’s More:

The defense argued that “match-fixing” isn’t a specific criminal offense in India. They also claimed the fixing was related to team strategy, not individual scores or betting pools.
