Aisa Cup 2023: Pakistan (PCB) sent SOS to ICC for Asia Cup 2023. As discussions continue over the Asia Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has sent an SOS to the ICC.

Official said Pakistan will not boycott:-

BCCI officials said – Pakistan will not boycott. The PCB, on the other hand, wants the ICC to put pressure on the BCCI to accept the hybrid model.

While the PCB threatened to boycott the tournament if the hybrid model was not accepted, the BCCI believed that this would not happen and that Pakistan would play the tournament.

A senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Tuesday, “They are just immediate reactions. The PCB is well aware of the situation they are in and whatever money comes in is important to them.

I don’t think Pakistan can boycott. He will play in Asia Cup and World Cup. At the moment, they are doing everything possible to maintain it, but it is not going to happen.”

What is PCB’s Asia Cup 2023 hybrid model?

  • In the new hybrid model, the tournament will be played in two parts.
  • In the first phase, Pakistan will host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal.
  • India’s matches in the second leg will be at neutral venues.
  • Sri Lanka is the preferred venue as India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are opposing UAE due to the heat.
  • The neutral venue will also host the final, even if India fails to qualify or Pakistan plays the final.
  • “We will know next week as there will be ACC meeting in Dubai after WTC. There are some concerns that need to be addressed and then we will have the Asia Cup schedule.”

Pakistan may refuse to play in India:-

If Pakistan withdraws from Asia Cup 2023, it will be a big blow for World Cup 2023 as well. Pakistan may refuse to play in India.

Apart from this, another round of discussion will take place when Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India may once again refuse to send the team.
