Taihu’s return to the White Ferns’ squad gave a new life to his professional career, as his international future was in doubt after he was not included in the central contract list last month.
On Friday, new women’s head coach Ben Sawyer cited the bowling all-rounder’s batting ability as the reason for his return to the team.
“Lea provides real speed and bounces with the ball and his ability with the bat gives us options. Lea is a familiar face. So will be able to hit the ground running at training camp next week,” Sawyer said.
Yet to receive an international cap. The Green White Ferns have been around the group. And were a touring member on a tour of England last year. Known as a similar replacement for Kerr.

Sawyer feels his ability to move the ball in the air could prove to be a valuable asset in the side’s campaign.
“Claudia Green has the same skills as Jess, so fits well into the team makeup. Her ability to swing the ball is an exciting aspect of her game. And we are looking forward to her coming on the tour of England.
