Veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews and young Pakistan player Tuba Hasan have been named as the winners of the ICC Player of the Month award for May.
Sri Lanka Test series:-
Angelo Mathews was exceptional with the bat during Sri Lanka’s Test series against Bangladesh last month.
The seasoned campaigner scored brilliant centuries in both the matches and scored 344 runs in the red-ball rubber.
The 35-year-old was praised from all sides for his scintillating knock of 199 runs in the first match of the Test series at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The right-handed batsman emerged as the highest run-scorer in the series and helped them claim a 1-0 win against the hosts.
Mathews beat fellow nominees Asitha Fernando (Sri Lanka) and Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) in the men’s section.
Hassan was named ICC Women’s Player of the Month:-
Pakistan’s Tuba Hasan was crowned ICC Women’s Player of the Month. The 21-year-old, who made his international debut only last month, was phenomenal in the team’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The talented youngster picked up five wickets in three of his performances and was also adjudged the Player of the Series.
He pipped Bisman Maroof (Pakistan) and Trinity Smith (Jersey) for the award.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim also nominated
The Sri Lankan cricket star expressed happiness in winning the ICC Player of the Month award. He also congratulated teammates Asitha Fernando and Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh for being nominating.
Mathews thanked his team members and support staff for their unwavering support. He also acknowledged how fans have extended their support to him.
He dedicated his award to the people of Sri Lanka and urged them to never stop believing.
