Ashton Agar Ruled Out Of Second Test And Replaced by John Holland, Ashton Agar’s hopes of an Australian Test comeback in Sri Lanka have been dashed after failing to recover from a side strain.

Holland included in his 17-man squad:-

Agar was ruled out of the second Test on Saturday morning when Australia included John Holland in their 17-man squad.

He was considered a serious chance to play in the series in Sri Lanka, despite not having been featured in a Test since 2017. He injured himself in Australia’s opening one-day international three weeks ago.

Agar’s absence means Mitchell Swepson will retain his place when the second Test begins on Friday.

Legspinner Swepson took three wickets in the first innings of the opening Test and two in the second as Australia registered a 10-wicket win.

Holland was not considering as he struggled with discomfort. His injury has healed, allowing him to play his first Test since 2018 in the series finale.
