Asia Cup 2023: BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). He has reportedly made it clear that India along with other members will go with the hybrid model suggested by PCB chief Najam Sethi to host the Asia Cup 2023. Will move forward has been rejected. And Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have also rejected the hybrid model.

Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have rejected Pakistan’s hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023
The PCB’s proposal of a “hybrid model”, in which 4 or 5 matches would be played in Pakistan and the remaining matches. Including all Indian matches in Dubai, was rejected. India has said that their hesitancy is due to the severe summer in the UAE in September.
Along with India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also rejected Pakistan’s hybrid model
Earlier, Shah had recently said during an informal discussion with the heads of member states in Ahmedabad. That there should be only one place to hold the tournament and that place is Sri Lanka.
Pakistan could not find a buyer for the model
According to a report in Telegraph, Pakistan will clearly tell at the next ACC Executive Board meeting that all other participating nations have agreed to play in Sri Lanka. The PCB, which is to host the Asia Cup in September this year, could not find a buyer for its model.

According to PCB sources, relations between the PCB and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have soured after Pakistan offered to host the entire Asia Cup instead of four matches as per the ‘hybrid model’ proposed by Najam Sethi.
