Asia Cup 2023 Corona: Two Sri Lankan players were found to be Corona-positive. Hosted by Pakistan, the Asia Cup matches starting on August 30 will be played under the hybrid model.

Accordingly, 9 matches of the Asia Cup will be played in Sri Lanka and 4 matches in Pakistan.

The much talked about match played between India and Pakistan will be playing in Sri Lanka on 2 September. Meanwhile, bad news is coming out. The threat of Corona is looming over the Asia Cup 2023.

With just five days left for the start of the Asia Cup, big news is pouring in from the Sri Lankan camp. According to a report, two SL players have been found to be Corona-positive.

Among them, the names of opener Avishka Fernando and wicket-keeper batsman Kushal Perera are coming to the fore. After the test of both these players, the coronavirus report has come positive.

The report states that both of them showed symptoms during the final stages of the LPL tournament and will be selecting for the Asia Cup squad only if they test negative.

Sri Lankan Team Troubled by Injury of Players:-

Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera is all set to be ruling out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury sustained during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who suffered a thigh injury ahead of the LPL final, could miss at least two matches of the tournament, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The Sri Lanka team has not announced:-

Sri Lanka has not yet officially announced its team for the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Bangladesh on August 31 at Pallekele. The teams will play their second group match on September 5 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
