Asia Cup 2023: PCB’s Potential Chairman Rejects Hybrid Model. ‘Ashraf is independent…’, ACC reacts strongly. Zaka Ashraf, the likely chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday expressed his reservations about the hybrid model of conducting the Asia Cup 2023.

Zaka Ashraf has said that he was against the hybrid model for the Asia Cup from day one. Now the ACC has given a strong reaction to his statement.

There will be no change in the organization of the Asia Cup:-

The Asian Cricket Council said that now no changes will be made in the organization of the Asia Cup.

For the first time since 2008, Pakistan will host a multi-nation cricket tournament at home. ACC had confirmed Pakistan and Sri Lanka as co-hosts of Asia Cup 2023.

The Asia Cup was originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it clear that Team India would avoid traveling.

After this, it was proposed to do the Asia Cup in a hybrid model. India’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka instead of Pakistan.

Zaka Ashraf Rejects hybrid model:-

Ashraf said in Islamabad on Wednesday- “I had already rejected the hybrid model for the Asia Cup. This is injustice to Pakistan.

It is not right to organize main matches outside Pakistan. Being the host, the entire event should happen at home.”

The PCB’s management committee, led by Najam Sethi, had proposed a hybrid model for the Asia Cup after India refused to travel to Pakistan.

Ashraf is free to say whatever he wants:-

Zaka’s statement could also jeopardize Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup to be held in India.

Speaking to the news agency PTI, a member of the ACC board issued a statement after Ashraf rejected the hybrid model for the Asia Cup.

The ACC board member said, “The Asia Cup model has been accepted by the ACC and there will be no change in it. Ashraf is free to say whatever he wants.”
