Asia Cup 2023: The schedule of Asia Cup 2023 will be announced this week. The ICC has announced the schedule of the World Cup amidst controversies over the venues.

The schedule of this mega tournament is likely to be released:-

On the other hand, the Asia Cup 2023 schedule is getting delayed continuously.

The Sport has learned that the delay is due to the venues. The ACC is in talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) over the Asia Cup venues and is likely to release the schedule of the Asian mega tournament this week.

Lahore and Dambulla are the preferred sites to host the Games. Colombo in Sri Lanka was the preferred choice.

But the monsoon season has forced a change of plan. However, a final decision on the venues in Sri Lanka will be taken this week.

A BCCI official told Sport, “Some details are yet to be worked out at the last minute. The draft program has been shared with the members.

The schedule should be out by this week. There is a problem in Colombo because of the monsoon season. We expected an India vs Pakistan match in Colombo, but rain could be an issue.”

With the hybrid model getting the ACC’s nod, Pakistan will host the first four matches.

All the matches are to be played in Lahore before the tournament and the teams shift to Sri Lanka. The tournament will begin on August 31 and the final will be held in Sri Lanka on September 17.

The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match will also take place in Dambulla. But the final decision on this is still awaited.

There will be a gap of 2-3 days before the Sri Lanka leg of the tournament. India are likely to start their campaign against Sri Lanka on 6th September.

Asia Cup 2023 no change in a hybrid model:-

Zaka Ashraf, the incoming chairman of Pakistan Cricket, had expressed concern over the hybrid model of the ACC. This model was proposed by former PCB chief Najam Sethi.

Ashraf said during a press conference last month, “The first point is that I had already rejected the hybrid model because I do not agree with it.

The board of the Asian Cricket Council had decided that it should be held in Pakistan, then we should host it.”

There is a delay in the Process of announcing the Asia Cup schedule:-

However, the ACC has ruled out any change in plans. The post of PCB chairman is currently vacant due to Ashraf being embroiled in a legal battle. This is one of the reasons why the process of announcing the Asia Cup schedule is getting delayed.

To this the BCCI official said, “There is no question of changing the hybrid scheme. Don’t forget that the PCB itself requested the hybrid model.
