AUS vs ENG: Steve Smith big feat became the fastest Australian batsman to 14000 runs

Steve Smith, the former captain of the Australian cricket team, is currently running in excellent form. Smith achieved a big achievement in his name in the second ODI of the 3-match series against the current world champion England (AUS vs ENG). Smith, a 33-year-old right-handed veteran batsman, missed a century by 6 runs in the Sydney ODI but during this time he became the fastest Australian batsman to score 14000 international runs.

Steve Smith played an inning of 94 runs in 114 balls which included 5 fours and a six. He has become the ninth Australian batsman to score 14,000 runs in international cricket. Smith was caught by Phil Salt on the ball of Adil Rashid. Before being dismissed, Smith shared a 101-run partnership for the third wicket with Marnus Labuschagne. After this, together with Mitchell Marsh, added 90 runs for the fifth wicket.

Smith came out to bat when the Australian team had lost the wicket of opener David Warner on a total score of 33 runs. Warner was caught by Lian Dawson on the ball of Moin Ali on a personal score of 16 runs. After this, playing the role of ‘troubleshooter’, Smith played an important role in taking his team’s score to a respectable score. Marnus Labushen was dismissed after scoring 58 runs in 55 balls, while Mitchell Marsh scored 50 runs in 59 balls.

Steve Smith is performing bang in ODIs

Steve Smith scored an unbeaten 80 in the first ODI of the series played at the Adelaide Oval. Smith’s scores in the last four ODI innings have been 61(94), 105(131), 80*(78), 94(114). In the last 19 innings, 4 centuries and 6 half-centuries have come out of Smith’s bat. He is currently performing brilliantly in the ODI format.

Adish Rashid took 3 wickets

Talking about the match, Australia, batting first, scored 280 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Ashton Agar returned unbeaten after scoring 18 runs while Travis Head was dismissed after scoring 19 runs. Adil Rashid was the most successful bowler for England, taking 3 wickets for 57 runs in 10 overs while Chris Woakes and David Willey took two wickets each.
