Australia’s Mitchell Marsh will lead the Australian T20I team in South Africa. The Western Australian all-rounder got his first chance to lead in the shorter format as the selectors announced a 14-man squad that includes three uncapped BBL stars.

Mitch Marsh will captain Australia in their first T20 Internationals after Aaron Finch’s retirement and will lead a formidable Big Bash team on the tour of South Africa.

Western Australia’s rising star all-rounder Aaron Hardie, current KFC BBL player Matt Short and breakout left-arm firebrand Spencer Johnson are in line to make their international debuts during the three-match T20I series.
Five ODIs to be played in preparation for the World Cup – an 18-man provisional squad for that tournament has also been announced today.
But the presence of a new generation of stars in the T20 squad adds an element of intrigue to that phase. Travel

Marsh, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa – were included in the 14-man squad from Australia’s most recent T20I XI played last November.
Marsh has only been named as captain for the South Africa series, with Cricket Australia yet to commit to a full-time replacement for Finch, who played his last T20 International last October.
