Australia’s ODI series officially comes to a close:-

AUS ODIs against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates in March officially came to a halt after Cricket Australia decided it was unable to go ahead with the fixture.

After consultation with multiple stakeholders, including the Australian government, CA announced on Thursday that it would pull out of the three-match series.

Australia’s ODI Series Against Afghanistan in March will Not Go Ahead

In a statement, CA clarified that the decision was taken following the Taliban’s recent announcement regarding further restrictions on the education and employment of women and girls.

Immediately banned Women’s Participation in Sports:-

The Taliban took control of the Asian nation in September 2021 and immediately banned female participation in the sport, which CA condemned.

The CA statement read, “CA is committed to supporting the growing sport for women and men around the world. Including in Afghanistan. And will continue to engage. With the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of better conditions for women and girls in the country.”

“We thank the Australian Government for their support on this matter.”

First this will not be his last ODI match:-

The series against Afghanistan was to be Australia’s final series in the ODI Super League. But it would not be their last ODI match before the World Cup.

They will play three ODIs in India (from March 17–22). After the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and five in South Africa in August and September. And three more in India just before the World Cup in October. But none of these No, their World Cup qualification will be affected.
