Australia’s Ricky Ponting has announced Pacer Shaheen Afridi as the player who will have to fire Pakistan to claim the second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title in Australia.

Shaheen made his best performance of the tournament so far:-

Afridi produced his best performance of the tournament so far when he bowled with top-notch pace and collected impressive figures of 4/22 against Bangladesh on Sunday and that spell helped Pakistan finish last in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Pakistan has a meeting against in-form New Zealand at the SCG on Wednesday and Ponting said Afridi is a key player in that match.

There might be some doubts about Afridi’s quick comeback when Pakistan’s wicketkeeping in the first two matches of the tournament against India and Zimbabwe, but Ponting always believed that the left-hander would do well.

Ponting compared Shaheen’s return to form to that of India’s superstar Virat Kohli in Australia. And hinted that sometimes you need to put your faith in champion players to build on the big stage.
