Ebdaut, who was part of the preliminary squad, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Bangladesh’s ODI series against Afghanistan last month.
After evaluation, it was learned that the right-hander would require at least six weeks of rehabilitation, and with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup less than two months away, the BCB did not want to risk aggravating Abadot’s injury.
“After the injury, Abadot had to undergo six weeks of rehabilitation. We have done several MRIs in the meantime and the reports show that his ACL is still a concern.
Hence, he missed the Asia Cup, said BCB’s chief sports physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhary.
The Counseling To Bring BCB Abadot Back To Full Fitness:-
“Keeping in mind the importance of the Bangladesh team’s next major event, which is the ICC World Cup in October, BCB about to explore every safe medical option available to get back to full fitness and play as soon as possible, including consultation and treatment committed to. abroad.”
The BCB national selection panel has picked 20-year-old uncapped fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Shakib as Abadot’s replacement.
The youngster was part of Bangladesh’s victorious squad of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2020 and went on to impress in the recently concluded ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup, taking nine wickets in three matches.
Four other players in the team were also part of the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup winning squad – Tauheed Hridoy, Shorful Islam, Shamim Hossain, and Tanzeed Hasan Tamim.
