Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan is worried about his cricketing future as his once-fractured index finger is set to make a full recovery despite undergoing surgery.

Appointed as the captain of Bangladesh T20I team:-

Nurul, who was appointed as the captain of the Bangladesh T20I team on the tour of Zimbabwe, injured his finger during the second T20I against the hosts in Harare and was subsequently ruled out of that tour as well as the Asia Cup.

Nurul underwent surgery in Singapore to recover from the injury, where a closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed by hand surgeon Dr. Anthony Fu at Raffles Hospital.

He then made himself available for the T20 tri-series in New Zealand prior to the T20 World Cup and continued to play thereafter.

But not free from pain. The real impact came during the second Test against India, where he had to take a suppository in order to play at the appointed time.

Finger injury status question:-

“As far as the condition of the finger injury is concerned. I took an injection after the last match (2nd Test against India) and that injection was for pain relief,” Nurul told Cricbuzz on Sunday.

Worried, Nurul said, “It (injured finger) is still numb after the injection. And if it remains like this it is fine but the pain may increase once the reaction to the injection is over.”

“I played the test series with suppositories as there was a lot of pain and I was unable to do anything. Whenever the ball hit my left hand. It was giving some kind of jerk so I could also hit the left-side ball with my right hand.

We’ll update the surgeon on his development:-

Let’s see I got the injection and hopefully it will react for a few months. And it (my finger) might get better.”

“We had a routine checkup and as per the suggestion of the surgeon we gave her an injection. We are not sure whether she will need more injections or not as we will update the surgeon. About her development and he (surgeon) will decide Next course of action,” said the BCB medical officer.

Nurul, arguably the country’s best wicket-keeper, has registered a dip in form behind the stumps. With a handful of occasions affecting his credibility as a top wicket-keeper.

Both his BPL franchise Rangpur Riders as well as Bangladesh are hopeful. That he will overcome the pain and return to his physical best at the earliest.
