Back on Monday, the Bangladesh national team began training in Chattogram, and Shakib was expected to join them on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the veteran player has gone into self-isolation and will undergo another test in a few days.
Did not name a replacement:-
The first test is to be held from Sunday 15 May at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The hosts are yet to name a replacement for the 35-year-old.
Earlier, the Tigers missed the services of all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj and pacer Taskin Ahmed.
Bangladesh also picked up all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat as cover for Mehdi. Speedster Shorful Islam’s participation in the first Test is also subject to fitness.
The Played Only 3 Out of 11 Tests:-
As far as Shakib is concerned, he has played only 3 of the 11 Tests he has played since Bangladesh’s return from a one-year ban.
Earlier this year, Bangladesh’s batsmen were under pressure to perform in the two-match Test series against South Africa. Shakib’s absence means that his middle order will be weak.
