Cameron Green gets clearance to resume training before leaving for the tour

Green was cleared to resume training shortly before leaving for the tour and has now started batting and bowling with the harder ball in the nets. The concern for the management would still be the build-up to his workload after a month of action, but before leaving Sydney, head coach Andrew McDonald indicated he would be treated as a specialist batsman.

McDonald told reporters in Alur on Saturday-

“He’s made some significant moves in the last few days, perhaps to my surprise. So there’s still an outside chance that everything is going well.” “I wouldn’t say he was uncomfortable with his bowling. One ball hit the bottom of the bat and that can cause trouble for anybody but there is a bit of awareness around that finger.”

Green still has little chance of an option with the ball in the first Test

Green still has little chance of being an option with the ball in the first Test. Which begins on February 9, begs the question of how Australia will balance its side. Against South Africa at the SCG last month, Ashton Agar was recalled to partner Nathan Lyon and there was speculation that the two frontline spinners would play in Nagpur, with skipper Pat Cummins well aware of the potent force, Australia’s paceman too Can be Injured Mitchell Starc will be missed.

Cummins said

“We’ve got a lot of bowling options here – finger spin, wrist spin, left-arm spin, Starsey when he comes back – so we’ll obviously pick bowlers who we think can take 20 wickets, how are we going to split it. Not 100% sure yet.”

Australia will have another full training session in Bengaluru on Sunday before traveling to Nagpur on Monday.
