Carlos Brathwaite was forced into isolation and is in doubt for the Jamaica Tallawahs’ Caribbean Premier League opening match on Friday after Carlos Brathwaite tested positive for COVID-19 during his flight to the UK.

Carlos Brathwaite travels from Manchester to Basseterre

After captaining the Hundred at the Manchester Originals, Carlos Brathwaite traveled from Manchester to Basseterre before the CPL. A fellow passenger tested positive for Covid-19 and was asked to isolate till further notice.

“As far as I know, my tests have been negative,” Carlos Brathwaite said. “We’ve been asked to be in quarantine. I still don’t know the full extent of it. I’ve just been told that I need to continue the quarantine as opposed to consenting to walk around the hotel, so I’m black.”

Speaking from his hotel room after the announcement of re-signing with the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming BBL season later this year, the all-rounder said he was unsure if he would take on St Lucia Kings in Friday’s opening match. “Not sure,” said Carlos Brathwaite. “I haven’t really got anything official yet to know when is the first day and how many days of quarantine, etc.

Brathwaite was retained by the Tallawahs along with Andre Russell after being knocked out in last season’s semi-finals by eventual champions Trinbago Knight Riders. He believes the Knight Riders will not have it all this season.

Runs from the top order will be crucial for Tallawahs

Brathwaite said runs from the top order would be crucial for the Tallawahs considering the quality of all-rounders and spin bowling.
“I think we have some hypothetical match winners. Me, Russell, Rovman Powell are clearly in the middle. With our spin attack, we have lost Mujeeb and we have lost Sandeep, but we have CAS There’s Ahmed, V. Permoul, and Chris Green.
