County cricket: Pujara-Washington did wonders, watch video

County cricket: Cheteshwar Pujara scored a century in his very first match while captaining in county cricket. Pujara got a chance to captain Sussex in this match. He scored an unbeaten 115 against Middlesex at Lord’s on the first day of the match on Tuesday (July 19).

This is his fifth century in seven county matches. On the other hand, Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly while debuting in county cricket. He took four wickets for 69 runs for Lancashire against Northamptonshire.

County cricket: Middlesex won the toss and decided to bowl first :-

Talking about Sussex’s match, Middlesex won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sussex regular captain Tom Haines has been out for a long time due to injury.

Sussex opener Alastair Orr Seven and Tom Clarke were dismissed for 33 runs. Pujara came to the crease after the fall of two wickets. He handled the innings of the team.

Pujara and Alsop shared a partnership of more than 200 runs :-

Pujara and Tom Alsop put on 219 runs for the third wicket. Alsop was dismissed for 135 off 277 balls. He hit 15 fours in his innings.

Sussex got the third and fourth blow at the score of 318. While Alsop was out for the third wicket, Archie Lenham returned to the pavilion as the fourth wicket. Lenham could not even open the account.

County cricket: Umesh Yadav did not get success :-

Wicketkeeper Oliver Carter was unbeaten on five with Pujara at the end of the day’s play. Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav, playing for Middlesex, could not take a single wicket on the first day. He conceded 42 runs in 18 overs.

Sundar came out to play first class after almost a year :-

Talking about the Lancashire and Northamptonshire match, Indian off-spinner Sundar dismissed Will Young, Rob Keio, Ryan Rickleton and Tom Taylor. Sundar last played a first-class match in July last year. He has played for India in all three formats.
