An Abused on religious grounds:-

Kaneria, who had earlier made some explosive revelations about misbehavior on religious grounds by Pakistan, has now leveled serious allegations against former Pakistan team captain Shahid Afridi.

Kaneria accused Afridi of being a Hindu and of conspiring against him in the Pakistan team, calling him “characterless”.

Kaneria said that he was mistreated in the Pakistan team only because he was a Hindu and accused Afridi of instigating other players against him on religious grounds.

This is not the first time that the former Pakistan spinner has made such shocking revelations.

The Misbehaved for being a Hindu:-

Earlier, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had claimed that after Kaneria was mistreated by some Pakistani players for being a Hindu, he had come out in public about being mistreated in the team.

“Shoaib Akhtar was the first to publicly talk about my problem. Salute to him for saying this (how I was treated in the team for being a Hindu).

However, he was later pressurized by several officials. Then he stopped. to talk about it. But yes, it happened to me. Shahid Afridi always let me down.

We used to play together for the same department, he used to put me on the bench and didn’t let me play for one day. tournament,” Kaneria told IANS in an interview.

I Used to ignore all these tips

“He didn’t want me to be in the team. He was a liar, a manipulative… because he is a characterless person. However, my focus was only on cricket and I used to ignore all these tricks.

Shahid Afridi was the only person who used to go to other players and instigate them against me. I was doing well and he was jealous of me. And I am proud that I played for Pakistan. I was grateful,” the former Pakistan spinner said.

Kaneria, who played 61 Tests and 18 ODIs for Pakistan, is the fourth-highest wicket-taker for the country in Tests with 261 scalps. Despite being a successful bowler in Tests, Kaneria had limited opportunities in ODIs as he managed to make only 18 appearances in the fifty-over format.

They were targeted by the board:-

Kaneria, who has been accused by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on allegations of match-fixing, said that he was targeted by the board. The former spinner said that he could have played more than 18 ODIs for the Pakistan national team had it not been for Afridi, who conspired against him.

“Some false allegations were leveled against me (of spot-fixing). My name was linked with the person involved in the case. He was also a friend of other Pakistani cricketers including Afridi. But I don’t know why I was only from PCB. I want to request to remove the ban so that I can do my work.

“There are many fixers who got out of the ban. I don’t know why I am not able to get that treatment. I have played for my country and I should be given a chance like others.

Now I am not even playing any international cricket. I am not asking for any job from PCB, but please remove this restriction so that I can live in peace and do my job with dignity.”
