Deepak Chahar Injury Derails CSK’s Momentum: Chennai Super Kings, the kings of consistency in IPL history, are facing a bowling crisis at the worst possible time. Just as they were entering the crucial knockout stages, their pace attack has been ravaged by injuries.

Deepak Chahar a key bowler for CSK

He, a key swing bowler for CSK, pulled up after bowling just two deliveries against Punjab Kings. This comes after already missing two games earlier in the season with niggles. While the exact nature of the injury is yet to be revealed, coach Stephen Fleming isn’t optimistic. “The initial feeling wasn’t great,” Fleming said, hinting at a potentially serious setback for Chahar and a major blow to CSK’s title aspirations.

He isn’t the only one on the CSK injury list

But Chahar isn’t the only one on the CSK injury list. Their Sri Lankan pace duo, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana, are also missing games due to visa issues and upcoming international commitments. Throw in Tushar Deshpande being out with the flu, and suddenly CSK’s bowling stocks are looking bare.

So, how can CSK cope with this sudden depletion of their bowling unit?

This is where things get interesting.

CSK brought in Richard Gleeson for his IPL debut against Punjab Kings, and the 36-year-old Englishman impressed with his swing bowling. But with Mustafizur Rahman departing for Bangladesh duty, CSK lacks a proven overseas fast bowler.

Former New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan suggests playing Mitchell Santner, a left-arm spinner, against Punjab Kings in the return fixture. Do you think this is the right approach? CSK also has young Indian pacers like Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh, but their lack of experience is a concern.

CSK’s batting woes added to their bowling problems against Punjab. Their experiment with the batting order, including dropping Daryl Mitchell down to No. 8, backfired miserably. Coach Fleming admitted they’re still searching for the right formula, especially in the middle overs.

With their bowling attack in shambles and their batting order needing tweaks, CSK faces a monumental task to get their IPL campaign back on track. Can they overcome these challenges and emerge as contenders once again?
