Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni Files Criminal Contempt Petition Against IPS Officer in Madras High Court.
Madras High Court relating to the criminal contempt petition:-
One case has moved the Madras High Court regarding a criminal contempt petition against IPS officer G Sampat Kumar over alleged statements against the Supreme Court and some senior lawyers.

The matter was listing for hearing before a division bench headed by Justice PN Prakash, but it did not come up for hearing on Friday.
It is worth mentioning that Dhoni had filed a suit in 2014 to permanently restrain the then Inspector General of Police Sampath Kumar from making any statement relating to match-fixing and spot-fixing of matches from the cricketer.
Directed them to pay Rs 100 crore for damages:-
Dhoni urged the court to direct him to pay Rs 100 crore for damages.
An interim order passed by the court on 18 March 2014 restrained Sampath Kumar from making any statement against Dhoni.
However, despite the order, Sampath Kumar reportedly filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court.
Derogatory remarks were made against the senior advocate:-
The Derogatory remarks were making against the senior advocate representing the judiciary and the state in the cases against him.
When it was buying to the notice of the Madras High Court. It took it on its file in December 2021.
To file the contempt application, after obtaining consent from Advocate-General R Shanmugasundaram on July 18 this year.

MS Dhoni preferred the present contempt application on October 11 this year to punish former IPS officer Sampath Kumar for his alleged acts of making remarks against the judiciary, thereby violating the court’s interim order passed in 2014.
