Dimuth To Lead The Team: Sri Lanka Announces 17-Man Test Squad For New Zealand Tour

Dimuth Karunaratne to lead the team: Sri Lanka announced a 17-man Test squad for the tour of New Zealand. Karunaratne will lead Sri Lanka in the two-Test series in New Zealand which is scheduled to begin on March 9.

All important World Test Championship Points:-

The series carries all-important World Test Championship points. Apart from Australia and India, Sri Lanka is the only other side that has a chance of making it to the final of the World Test Championship.

They currently have 53.33% of the possible points, and to make the final, Sri Lanka will need a 2-0 win against New Zealand, while other results are expected to go in their favour.

Sri Lanka did not do well in New Zealand:-

Historically, Sri Lanka have not done well in New Zealand, winning just twice in their last 19 attempts. But the team’s form in Test matches has been strong under coach Chris Silverwood.

Sri Lanka have included several pace options in their ranks for the tour, including Lahiru Kumara, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Asita Fernando, Milan Ratnayake, and Vishwa Fernando.

Sri Lanka will tour New Zealand from 9 March to 8 April. He is set to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20 matches on this tour.

The first Test will be played in Christchurch from March 9 to 13. The second Test will be played in Wellington from 17 to 21 March.
