Jonny Bairstow produced a brilliant performance with the bat in England’s historic five-wicket win over New Zealand in the second Test at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, June 14.
Chasing 299 runs to win the last day, the hosts were struggling at 93/4. And then Bairstow scored his century, performing brilliantly in Test history.
Johnny came to bat at No. He made his fifty in 51 balls and his century in just 77 balls. Which is the second-fastest by an Englishman in Tests behind Gilbert Jessop’s 76 balls.
When Trent Boult hit 14 fours and 7 sixes in his 92-ball 136 before being dismissed to Bairstow.
Bairstow played for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 season. He scored 253 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 144.57.
“We are very fortunate to be able to play in some of the best competitions against the best players in the world. So when it comes to pressure situations, the more you are able to keep yourself in those pressure situations, the better. Because it is the situations that you have gone through in the past, be it in the IPL, one-day cricket, or the first red-ball cricket that you can call for the evening,” Jonny Bairstow.
Bairstow is also enjoying playing under England’s new regime, which includes Test captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum.
