England’s Craig Overton Claims His 400th First-Class Wicket

England’s Craig Overton claimed his 400th first-class wicket as Somerset rallied against Hampshire at Taunton.

Claimed the scalps of Ian Holland and James Vince:-

Overton claimed the scalps of Felix Organ, Ian Holland, and James Vince as Hampshire posted 144 for five in their LV=Insurance County Championship Division One clash.

The England seamer ended the day for three for 21 in 18 overs, with his team-leading by 67 runs at stumps.

No play was possible due to a wet outfield before lunch, but Holland’s 49 off 111 balls was the choice of Hampshire’s batsmen after the action finally resumed.

England hopes Harry Brooke shone again as Yorkshire put themselves in a strong position against Warwickshire at Headingley.

Responding to Warwickshire’s first innings of 244, Yorkshire scored 269 for four on the second day.

The Next Month’s test series against New Zealand:-

Brooke, who was called up to England’s squad for the start of next month’s Test series against New Zealand earlier this week, scored 82 runs in 117 balls.

His eighth score in nine innings this season is 50 or more.
Adam Lyth also scored an unbeaten 118 as the fourth wicket pair scored 157 runs on either side of the tea.

Kent scored Ben Compton’s 140 against Northamptonshire in the form of Jack Leaning and Grant Stewart.

Captain Leaning hit 62 off 131 balls and all-rounder Stewart played a quickfire 61 off 34 balls with the help of five sixes.

Darren Stevens strikes again for Northamptonshire:-

Kent made 519 for nine and Stewart and Darren Stevens then opened the innings for Northamptonshire.

Ben Curran and Emilio Gay were quickly removed as the hosts were reducing to 21 for two – 498 runs behind.

Essex dominated on a rain-hit day at Emirates Old Trafford as Lancashire’s first innings were in shambles.

In reply to Essex’s 391, Lancashire was reducing to 32 for five before the rain arrived for the second time in the day to prevent any play after tea.

New-ball bowlers Sam Cook (2 for five) and Jamie Porter (2 for 19) did the most damage.

In reply to England’s new Test captain Ben Stokes. Middlesex scored 88 for two and claimed former teammate Mark Stoneman’s catch at slip in the first over.

Ben Duckett scored 86 and five other batsmen broke 30 and Nottinghamshire scored 334 for seven.

Although some of the dismissals could be attributing to poor shots. The hard work was put in Sam Connors, who claimed three for 80.
