England’s Lauren Winfield-Hill has signed for Melbourne Stars for the upcoming WBBL season. Melbourne Stars have revealed their third and final overseas player for the upcoming Webber WBBL season.

Tournament’s fourth-highest run-scorer:-

WBBL behind a strong campaign for champion Oval Invincibles at Winfield-Hill The Hundred | 08, where she was the tournament’s fourth-highest run-scorer at an average of 54.75 with a strike rate above 136.

The veteran batsman also picked up the gloves for the Invincible and could provide back-up for regular Stars keeper Nicole Faltum.

The Stars will be the fourth WBBL club from Winfield-Hill, having previously played 41 matches for Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, and Adelaide Strikers.

“I’m really looking forward to connecting with the stars, meeting the girls, the staff, and the fans,” Winfield-Hill said.

“I think I am in a good place with my game at the moment and have been in some good form so let’s hope it continues with the stars.

“The group is a lovely mix of familiar faces to me with Jamie (Rodriguez), Capps (Alice Capsey), and JB (Jonathan Batty) but also some exciting young people who I look forward to bringing around.

“The WBBL is a great competition and I am excited to be a part of it again.”

Winfield-Hill is the third overseas player to be confirmed for the Stars, joining top-order batsmen Jemima Rodrigues and Alice Capsey.

With captain Meg Lanning joining the WBBL, all three’s skills with the bat will be crucial. 08 In the air as she takes an indefinite break from cricket.

Blair Crouch, general manager of the Stars, said: “Lauren is a quality person and a quality cricketer and it’s great to secure his signature for WBBL|08.”

“She has been in red hot form in the Hundred and we hope she can continue that form when she comes to Australia.

“Along with our coach, Jonathan Batty, I am thrilled with the international talent we have been able to gather and we look forward to announcing our final two list places this month.”

The Stars have two local player spots left to be confirmed for WBBL|08, which begins on October 13 with a blockbuster clash between the Sixers and the Heat at Mackay.
