English Cricketer Tammy Beaumont Hits Her Ninth ODI Century

English cricketer Tammy Beaumont hit her ninth ODI century and helped England to another victory and a 3–0 series win over South Africa at Leicester.

Tammy Beaumont issues timely reminders:-

The veteran opener didn’t take too kindly to be left out of England’s Commonwealth Games squad as she scored a scintillating century to lead her side to victory in Leicester.

Beaumont put on 149 for the opening wicket with fellow opener Emma Lamb (65) and then went ahead when Sofia Dunkley (51) at Grace Road joined him at the crease.

The 31-year-old eventually fell for an excellent 119 from just 107 balls, paving the way for the hosts to compile 371/7 from their allotted 50 overs.

Stylish Laura Wolvaardt gives hope to South Africa:-

The visitors needed a quick start to open England’s mammoth chase. And the pairing of Laura Wolvaardt and Andrey Steyn made 60 runs in the first eight overs of the run chase.

Wolvaardt notably punished anything that was loose as she scored her 29th ODI half-century. But the talented 23-year-old failed to keep it up once again as she fell to Charlie Dean for 56.

England spinners do damage:-

It was England’s slow bowlers who proved decisive during South Africa’s run chase. With Dean (3/42) and Lamb (3/42) taking six wickets in an excellent team effort.

Inexperienced fast bowler Alice Davidson-Richards (3/35) also took her three wickets as several world-class South African batsmen failed to convert their good starts into big scores.

In the end, it proved the difference in the series. With England’s batsmen a square up and scoring a century in each match to ensure a comprehensive 3–0 series sweep.
