Pakistan registered a resounding victory in the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand in Rawalpindi.

He scored 117 runs in 114 balls hitting 13 fours and 1 six. While his partner Imam-ul-Haq also got the team off to a strong start by playing a brilliant inning of 60 runs.

Can hit more against spinners:-

After this victory, when Fakhar was asked whether Babar and Rizwan should open in ODIs, he made a big statement.

Speaking during the press conference, Fakhar said- I have played as an opener in my entire career, but if you look at the situation in the team, I do not speak diplomatically.

But do you think Babar and Rizwan can hit more against spinners or can I? I think I can hit bigger.

Don’t think someone else’s place is made in the opening

Fakhar further said- That’s why we need a left-handed batsman in the team combination, in fact we need two left-handed batsmen.

I don’t think anyone else deserves to open, the way Babar and Rizwan are performing.

Fakhar said about opening with Imam-ul-Haq that I have not seen a confident player like him. I enjoy opening up with him.

Can break Saeed Anwar’s record:-

Fakhar said- I can break Saeed Anwar’s record because records are meant to be broken as soon as they are made. He has been our great batsman and if I get a chance to play for 6-7 years, I can play for a long time.

Fakhar’s statement came at a time when the Pakistan management is trying to reshuffle the batting order and experiment with new strategies.

He further said- “Cricket is a game that always needs improvement. Our management is trying to shuffle the batting order to try some new things.
