Sinclair played 21 Tests between 1963 and 1968, scoring three centuries – one each against South Africa, Pakistan, and England.

Used to help achieve a better atmosphere in the game:-

“Barry was one of the first past players to sign up in our organization and loved being involved and helping current players achieve a better environment in the game. We are going to miss him so much.”

He led New Zealand three times, first against England in Dunedin in 1966 in place of an injured Murray Chappell, and then in the final match of the same series.

Sinclair captained them against India in Dunedin for almost two years before New Zealand’s next Test, and before making himself unavailable for the next two matches due to work commitments.

He returned for the final match of the series in Auckland, which would be his last Test.

He completed 1000 runs of his century against England in 1966:-

When he completed 1000 runs with his century against England in 1966, he followed Burt Sutcliffe and John R Reed as New Zealand batsmen.

In all, he played 118 first-class matches, scoring 6114 runs at an average of 32.87 including six centuries. He was also considered a brilliant fielder.

At the Queen’s Birthday Honors in 2016, Sinclair was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
