Senanayake Match Fixing: Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sachitra Senanayake arrested. Senanayake has been arrested on charges of match-fixing.

They Will Be Producing in Court:-

According to reports, Senanayake was arrestiing today after surrendering before the Special Investigation Unit of the Sports Ministry and will be produced in court.

Sachitra Senanayake is accusing of trying to fix matches during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2020.

Had Contacted Two Cricketers Through Telephone From Dubai:-

It is alleging that Senanayake was contacting two cricketers via telephone from Dubai to fix matches in the first edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2020.

In August 2023, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court imposing a travel ban on the former cricketer. After an investigation into match-fixing allegations was initiating.

A Three-Month Travel Ban Was Imposing On The Former Off-Spinner:-

A three-month travel ban was imposing on the former off-spinner. After the Attorney General (AG) directed the Sports Ministry’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to file criminal charges against him.

However, the former cricketer has denied all the allegations and claimed. These are baseless allegations aiming at defaming him and his family.

Sachitra Senanayake (38) has played one Test, 49 ODIs, and 24 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka between 2012 and 2016.
