IPL 2023: Shreyas Iyer Undergoes Successful Back Surgery in The UK
IPL 2023: Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer undergoes successful back surgery in the UK. He was battling a back injury problem for some time.
Shreyas had a successful surgery in London on Tuesday
After which he had to undergo surgery. A media source said that “Shreyas underwent a successful surgery in London on Tuesday. In fact, he was able to walk a little yesterday.”

Iyer is completely out of the IPL season this year. At the same time, he will also have to stay out of the World Test Championship to be held in June.
The 28-year-old batsman must stay away from cricket for around three months. After that, he can start training and hopefully, he will be fully fit by the time of the World Cup in October.

Iyer had already missed some action at the start of the year citing bench issues for India.
New Zealand missed the series at home and then the first two Tests of the Australia series. He returned for the last two Tests but experienced discomfort and pain in his lower back during the Ahmedabad Test.
His back injury resurfaced and he didn’t come out to bat when India got the chance. He was then also unavailable for the three ODIs against Australia.
Despite he later informed the NCA:-
He subsequently reported to the NCA despite trying other methods to delay any invasive procedures.
Scans showed that surgery was inevitable and so it was decided that he would undergo a knife operation in the UK.
As a result, he is currently missing IPL 2023, where he was supposed to lead Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

He will also miss the World Test Championship final, where India will take on Australia on June 7 at the Oval in London.
