Meteors head coach Jono Dean’s 2022/23 squad:-
“This season is a big one for the Meteors, as the Cricket Act prepares to celebrate our centenary.
We came very close to a Finals berth last season, and how important it will be for our organization to have the opportunity to play in our first Finals during this milestone of a lifetime.
“Batting all-rounder Annie Wickman joined us in the middle of last season to help fill in the gaps left due to multiple injuries within the team.
She was impressing during an intra-squad practice match and made her debut against her home state of Queensland, ending four matches with her belt on.
“After watching Angelina (Jenford) play against us for the NSW Breakers in a practice match during last year’s season, I was impressing by her bowling ability and raw pace.
His batting ability was also visible during the match
Her batting prowess also showed during the season-breakers final match, where Angelina scored an unbeaten 45 off 62 balls.
I am excited to see her grow into our squad where she will be surrounded by some great people along the way.
“It’s also heartening to see a player of Katie Mack’s caliber showing her confidence. And commitment to our program by signing a long-term deal.
She is an integral part of our future plans. And we look forward to playing a part in her cricketing journey.” Excited to play.
“With new faces come to some tough goodbyes. It was a difficult decision to bid farewell to Erica Kershaw. Who has been a vital part of our team for many years?
Erica stepped down to captain during the second half of last season in the absence of Angela Reakes. And we wish her all the best for the future. We also wish Nicola Hancock and Madeline Pea the best of luck as they pursue new opportunities.
The Revealed Earlier This Year:-
Current captain Angela Reakes revealed earlier this year that she’s expecting her first child in August. And will keep her spot on the list by the time she takes maternity leave. And accepts her latest challenge, parenthood.
Due to the historic Australian Cricket parental leave policy. The Meteors receive an additional automatic contract upgrade, resulting in a 15-player contracted player list instead of the regular 14.
