ICC Stumping Rule Change: ICC has made a big change in the rules of stumping, and the fielding team will suffer a big loss. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made some concrete changes in its rules which will be implemented in the new year i.e. 2024. ICC has changed its stumping rules.

Only Stumping Will Be Examined On Ping Review:-

To check stumping, DRS checks the catch before going to stumping. Now according to the new rules, only stumping will be examined on stumping review and not catches behind the wicket.

The rules came into effect in December 2023. After taking DRS for stumping, the third umpire first checks the caught-out. Many times, teams have taken advantage of this and got the batsmen caught out by using DRS for stumping.

The Fielding Team Will Have To Appeal Separately For The Catch:-

But now the rule has been changed. For stumping review, the focus will be only on the angle, thereby denying extra privileges to the fielding team. Now the fielding team will have to appeal separately for the catch.

The Restricts Stumping Review To Investigation Of Stumping Only:-

The ICC’s new rule states, “This change limits stumping review to only stumping investigations, so the fielding team will not be entitled to a free review for other methods of dismissal (i.e., caught out) without the player electing review.” will get.”

Most notably, Australian keeper Alex Carey made headlines for repeatedly using stumping reviews to check catches. This was seen during Australia’s tour of India.
