IND vs BAN: Liton Das To Replace Injured Tamim As Bangladesh Captain in ODI Series. Das has been named Bangladesh captain for the three-match ODI series against India at home starting in Dhaka from Sunday.
Test series starting in Chittagong from 14 December:-
Regular ODI captain Tamim Iqbal was earlier ruled out of the series due to a groin injury. He is also doubtful to play in the Test series starting in Chittagong on 14 December. Taskin Ahmed has also been ruled out of the first ODI due to a back injury.

Liton did not captain Bangladesh in the first ODI but led them in a T20I in April 2021.
In excellent form across all formats for Bangladesh:_
He didn’t have the best of outings at the time, falling for a first-ball duck in a rain-shortened game. However, he has been in excellent form across all formats for Bangladesh and has his highest score in ODIs this year with 500 runs in ten innings at an average of 62.50.
Jalal Yunus, BCB’s chairman of cricket operations, said in a statement: “Litton is one of the more experienced players in the team and has demonstrated leadership qualities. He has a sharp cricketing mind and reads the game well.”
The Most unfortunate to lose due to injury:-
“Losing Tamim to injury for this crucial series is most unfortunate, especially as the team under his captaincy has played some outstanding cricket over the years and he has been our most prolific batsman in this format.”
While no replacement has been named for Tamim, Shoriful Islam has been called into the side for Taskin.
Under the leadership of Tamim, Bangladesh has won eight out of 12 matches played this year. They are fifth in the ODI Super League table and are one of the seven teams to have directly qualified for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

The ODI series between Bangladesh and India begins on December 4 in Dhaka, with the second match being played at the same ground on December 7. The last match of the series will be played on December 10 in Chattogram.
