It was Ben Stokes’ first assignment as England captain, and one of the top performers for the team in the series was Jonny Bairstow.

The English batsman said that he and his captain have faith in their game and play without much chatter.
Bairstow realized that he didn’t need to talk all the time, and just played his game, as he said he had been doing it for a few years.
Stokes has been steady in the middle order for England:-
Bairstow and Stokes have been a constant in the middle order for England over the past decade. And yet, in the series against the Kiwis, he saved England’s innings several times.
“We’ve done it for quite a few years, haven’t we? There really wasn’t much said between us in between,” Bairstow told Nasser Hussain in an interview with The Daily Mail.

Bairstow and Stokes have had some great partnerships in the past, including one in Cape Town.
When the two put on 399 runs for the sixth wicket, Bairstow scored his maiden Test century and the all-rounder scored 258 runs.
“We rely on each other’s games to just go and play, which is a really good thing. You don’t have to keep talking all the time,” Bairstow said.
The Wicketkeeper-Batsman Said:-
Speaking about Stokes‘ captaincy, the wicketkeeper-batsman said that the former has been tactfully good on the field and is very clear about what he expects from the team off the field.

“He didn’t captain much before he took over, but he had a lot of experience, on and off the field, that he has been able to bring together to lead the side,” Bairstow said.
