With Team India, he aims to learn from the lessons imparted by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at RCB. He can debut for India against South Africa in the ODI series.
Actually, on Wednesday, BCCI shared a video in which Rajat Patidar was seen sharing his experience so far. During this Patidar said, “Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are my idols.
Both are highly experienced in international cricket:-
They are both very experienced in international cricket, whenever I see them I think about how to talk to them. But they both talk to me on their own, that moment is wonderful for me which instills confidence in me.”
He also said that I have learned a lot from Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers in the nets while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Especially Virat, who has equal intensity both in the nets and in the match. It’s nice to see it and I try to add that intensity to my game.
Patidar admitted that his Indian call-up is a dream come true and said that the IPL 2022 Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants, where he scored 112*, was a turning point in his career.
The batsman said that he enjoyed his first practice session with Team India and felt good after being talked about and appreciated by veteran opener and stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan.
That IPL inning Gave Me Confidence:-
He said, “It feels good when veterans appreciate you. It inspires me. When the team claps for you, it inspires you.”
On how he got into IPL and domestic cricket in different formats, the batsman said, “That innings in IPL gave me confidence. But white ball and red ball cricket are different.
I have the ability to play in all formats. I try to focus on both the formats separately, keep myself present and play as per the demand of the team.
This year was Patidar’s breakout IPL season with RCB, in which he scored 333 runs in eight matches at an average of 55.50 with one century and two fifties.
