India all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has joined Brisbane Heat for the upcoming season of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL08). Season eight will be Vastrakar’s first WBBL season.
Heat’s second international signing for WBBL08
The 22-year-old all-rounder is the Heat’s second international signing for WBBL08 after starring New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr.

Vastrakar, who is part of India’s squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022, is currently recovering from COVID-19 and is yet to join the squad in Birmingham.
She will become the third Indian player to play for the Heat after opener Smriti Mandhana and leg-spinner Poonam Yadav.
Impressed by Vastrakar during her Performance:-
Heat head coach Ashley Noffke was impressed with Vastrakar during India’s tour of Australia last summer and his performance in the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand.
“Pooja is an excellent athlete,” he said. “She bowls fast, can find boundaries with the bat down the order, and has a perfect jet in the field.”

She is definitely the player of the future for India and we hope to make a difference for the summer this summer.
Ten wickets with all-rounder Sneh Rana:-
Vastrakar stood out with his performance during India’s 50-over World Cup campaign. She was India’s joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament with ten wickets along with all-rounder Sneh Rana.

Moreover, his scintillating knock of 67 runs in 59 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan helped India win the competition. The knock came at a crucial stage for the team after a flurry of wickets.
He has featured in 23 ODIs, 27 T20Is and two Test matches for India so far and has a bright future ahead of him. The Heat have now announced 12 of their 15 players for WBBL08.
