Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta feels the wicket of an in-form Glenn Maxwell in the 45th over of Australia’s innings overturned the final ODI.

Australia were in a spot of bother at 158 for 5 in the 31st over but Glenn Maxwell put the pressure back on India with a masterful counter-attacking display.

Maxwell took the India spinners to the cleaners and went after Natarajan, bringing down the equation to 32 from 33 balls.

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Maxwell with an unplayable yorker when the Australia batsman looked to stage an impressive fightback for the five-time World Champions in Canberra ODI.

It was a perfect yorker which Maxwell missed and left the field frustrated after having thrown a good opportunity away to seal the deal for Australia.

“That (Glenn Maxwell’s wicket) was the turning point. Maxwell as long as he was out there, it seemed like he will take his team through. Obviously, Bumrah being Bumrah. Was an absolute gem of delivery and for me, that was the turning point,” Deep Dasgupta said while speaking on Sports Today YouTube.

“And not just Maxwell. Along with Maxwell, that partnership with Alex Carey, that was such a good partnership that they had. Glenn Maxwell is batting like a dream right now,” Deep Dasgupta added.

Team India finally opened their account in the ongoing ICC World Cup Super League with a win in the final match of the three-game ODI series against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday.
