Indian opener Mayank Agarwal became the third-fastest Indian after Vinod Kambi and Cheeshwar Pujara to reach 1,000 Test runs in the ongoing Adelaide Test against Australia.
Former Opener Vinod Kambli holds the top spot as he went past the mark in just 14 innings. Pujara and Gavaskar went over 1000-run mark in their 18th and 21st innings respectively.
Mayank Agarwal has shown the ability to play the long innings in his short Test career thus far.

The 29-year old has converted two of his three hundreds in Test cricket into double centuries, including a highest score of 243 runs.
Earlier on Day 2, Australia captain Tim Paine made an unbeaten 73 off 99 balls before his team got bowled out for 191 on a wicket where 15 wickets fell in a day.
Paine’s side started the day promisingly when it needed only 22 minutes. And 4.1 overs to wrap up India’s first innings for 244 after the visitors resumed on 233-6.
