Even though Team India has won the last two Test series under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, but now questions are being raised about his poor form.

At the same time, there is a possibility of BCCI to take a big decision regarding Rohit’s captaincy after the World Cup 2023 in October.

The BCCI is in no hurry to appoint a new Test captain. However, with the end of the WTC Finals, India will begin a new WTC cycle in the West Indies. There will be no change in stance till World Cup 2023.

A senior BCCI official told Sport, “There is no rush to find a Test captain. Rohit is fit and fine.

He will continue to captain India in Tests:-

Whatever the outcome of the WTC, he would continue to captain India in Tests. But yes, we are still not sure how long he will continue to play Tests.

We haven’t had any discussion about this. But sometime after the World Cup, we will have a discussion with Rohit.”

BCCI has already searched for another captain in place of Rohit in T20. Hardik Pandya may not have been officially unveiled as the new T20 captain.

But it is certain that Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the next Indian T20 World Cup. Whether Rohit will play in T20 World Cup 2024 depends a lot on IPL 2024.

Why Rohit Sharma’s tough test?

In the last two years, India has played 19 Test matches and Rohit missed 8 of them due to injury.

After Covid-19, he missed playing the 5th Test against England in 2021 as Test captain. India has failed to win the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup under Rohit’s captaincy.
