Injured Bangladesh Pacer Taskin Ahmed Unlikely To be Ruled Out Of West Indies Tests

Injured Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed is unlikely to feature in the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Injury to shoulder in the opening Test of the series:-

Tej, 27, suffered a shoulder injury in the opening Test of the South Africa series, an injury that ruled him out of the Port Elizabeth Test as well as the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.

BCB’s chief doctor Debashish Choudhary believes Taskin will need four to six weeks of rehabilitation to recover from the injury, starting from May 20 or 22.

“We will go for the conservative management for the next four weeks and see what happens. We can’t be sure if he will miss the whole series,” Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.

We can’t say a month before the series whether he will be dropped or not. The team will be leaving during the first week of June, so maybe we can think of including him for the shorter versions.”

Bangladesh is scheduling to tour the West Indies on June 6 for two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

The First Test in Antigua from 16-20 June:-

As per the draft itinerary, the first Test will be playing in Antigua from June 16-20 while the second Test will be played in St. Lucia from June 24-28.

Taskin was recently returning home from London after getting his shoulder examining. “I think it is too early to say when I will be available because everything will depend on my improvement but I am looking forward to playing again as soon as possible,” he said.

The white ball segment of the series against West Indies begins with T20Is and the first two T20Is will be playing in Dominica on 2 and 3 July respectively while the third will be played in Guyana on 7 July. Three ODIs are also scheduling in Guyana on 10, 13, and 16 July.
