IPL 2022 Qualifier 1: Heavy storm in Kolkata, damage to Eden Garden press-box due to a rainstorm, IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 is overshadowed by the weather.
The Great devastation in the Garden of Eden:-
Ahead of IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 to be held in Kolkata, storm rain caused huge destruction at the Eden Gardens. On Saturday also the press box of Eden Gardens was badly damaged due to a heavy storm.

Heavy storms and rain have been predicted on the day of the Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals Qualifier 1 match on Tuesday.
Rain and storm also damaged press boxes in Kolkata and Eden Gardens on Saturday.
IPL 2022 Qualifier 1: Norwester winds hit Kolkata on Saturday (Kolkata). The intensity of the storm-damaged the front glass of the media box.

Even some advertisement billboards were damaged. A portion of the ground cover was also damaged, while some advertising work was also affected.
According to a report in The Telegraph, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly visited the Eden Gardens in the evening.
He also confirmed that all the damaged items will be repaired by Monday before Qualifier 1 between GT and RR.

IPL 2022 Qualifier 1: According to the BBC’s weather forecast, thunderstorms and light winds have been predicted for the evening of the first qualifier.
Rain has also been predicted on Sunday and Monday, which means the outfield will be at some risk as well. Interestingly, none of the IPL 2022 matches were canceled due to rain.
All the matches were played in the scorching heat of Mumbai and Pune. If the weather takes a turn in Kolkata, cricket fans may have to face the first rain of IPL 2022 during the playoffs.
The first qualifier is to be played between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, 24 May.

A Wash Out Results:-
- In case the match gets washed out, there is no reserve day due to the tight IPL schedule.
- GT would qualify directly for the final due to their superior league position.
- RR will then drop to Qualifier 2 and play the winner of the Eliminator.
- If the Eliminator also gets washed away in Kolkata, LSG will advance to Qualifier 2.
