The English all-rounder, who skipped IPL 2022, is back on CSK’s ‘Most Wanted’ list as the team looks to get him back in place of Dwayne Bravo.
In fact, according to sources in the CSK camp, Dhoni has instructed the team management to bet big on Curran in the IPL auction.
Let me tell you, Sam Curran is not new to the set-up of the Super Kings. He was a part of the yellow jersey team in 2020 and 2021 and played 23 matches.
According to sources in the CSK camp, Dhoni feels that Curran is preferring to replace Bravo. The team management and especially Dhoni feel that with Bravo no longer there, Curran should make the team overseas.
A source close to the CSK team management said:-
A source close to the CSK team management said, he can bowl in the death overs and can also bat in the lower order.
Curran was bought by Super Kings in 2020 for 5.5 crores. His current form is also the primary reason why CSK is interested in getting him in the IPL auction.
Curran was awarded as the ‘Man of the Series’ for the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup. He was one of the main architects of England’s victory in the World Cup in Australia.
The second reason is that the group of CSK is very old and formed. They try to keep their group intact and that is the reason why Bravo has also been roped in as the bowling coach of the team.
Curran has a successful history with CSK and the team will be looking to pick tried and tested players in the IPL auction.
- Chennai Super Kings finished ninth in the 2022 ten-team tournament.
- They have retained most of their players.
- They have retained their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja while there were rumors that Jadeja would leave CSK.
- At the age of 41, MS Dhoni still remains the captain, but he will not be seen in the season after 2023, due to which this season is very important for him and the team.
- Deepak Chahar has been retained despite being injured.
- The Super Kings have Rs 20.45 crore in their purse to spend in the auction. Also, they still have seven slots available, including two for foreign players.
