IPL 2023 Auction: Chris Woakes told the reason for not participating in the IPL 2023 auction. England all-rounder Chris Woakes said that it was not an easy decision to pull out of next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and mini-auction.

But he did so in order to earn a place in the national team for the home Ashes series in 2023.

Franchises may not spend big money on Woakes but he would definitely be in the eye of some teams in the auction to be held later this month.

Woakes, who missed the domestic Test season due to injury, has preferred to play in the County Championship over the IPL.

It was not an easy decision by any means:-

He told ESPN Cricinfo, “It was not an easy decision by any means because IPL is a great tournament and gives you a lot of financial benefit.

But I did not take the decision keeping in mind only financial benefits. I took this decision after talking to many people.

Spoke to the managing director of England:-

The 33-year-old also revealed that he spoke to the England managing director during the T20I tour of Pakistan in September.

Where he was assured that he was still a part of the Test team but needed to keep himself fit.
