IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans announced the replacement of Kane Williamson. Gujarat has selected Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka as Williamson’s replacement.

The first match of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League was played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

GT’s star batsman Kane Williamson was badly injured during the first innings in this match.

Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have picked Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka as Kane Williamson’s replacement.

Explosive batting in the T20 series against India:-

Sri Lanka’s T20 captain Dasun Shanaka is all set to make his IPL debut. Shanaka was explosive in the recent T20 series against India, scoring 124 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 187 and an average of 62.

Apart from this, he is also a right-arm fast bowler, who can handle the middle order for Gujarat Titans and can also take wickets with his bowling.

Significantly, Gujarat Titans bought Kane Williamson in the mini auction for his base price of Rs 1 crore. However, in the opening match of IPL 2023 itself, he had to be completely out of the IPL.

At the same time, GT has included Dasun Shanaka in its team in replacement of Williamson. GT bought him for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Dasun will make his IPL debut along with playing for GT.

Gujarat Titans star batsman Kane Williamson left for New Zealand in the early hours of Monday after suffering a knee injury in the season-opening match against Chennai Super Kings on Friday.

While Kane has posted a video on GT’s official social media account, in which he is giving a message of goodbye, in that video he said, “Sad to leave so soon. I will surely miss the camp.
