IPL 2023: Liam Livingstone will not play the first match against KKR. Even before the start of IPL 2023, the Punjab Kings team has suffered a major setback.

The player will not be able to play the first match for Punjab:-

A star player of the team will not be able to play the first match for Punjab. And that player is none other than England’s power hitter Liam Livingstone.

Livingstone will not be able to play in the opening match for Punjab Kings. The reason behind this is that he has not received fitness clearance from the ECB after recovering from a knee injury. Due to which the tension of the team and captain Shikhar Dhawan has increased.

IPL will start against KKR in their home ground from 1st April

Punjab Kings will start their IPL campaign against KKR at their home ground from 1st April.

While Livingstone is a key member of the Punjab Kings team for his all-round game. But he has not played a cricket match since torturing his knee during his Test debut in Pakistan in December.

He also injured his ankle during The Hundred tournament last year. At present, no information has been given on this by Punjab Kings.

ECB scan to determine his fitness status:-

An IPL source has told PTI that Livingstone has been ruled out for at least the first game. Because the ECB is scanning to determine his fitness status.

He can be available from the second match onwards. Livingstone posted a video on social media on Wednesday in which he is seen batting in the nets.

Last year, he had the best season ever in the IPL. During that time he scored 437 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36 while his strike rate was 182.08.

Livingstone is known around the world for his big-hitting and has played 12 ODIs and 29 T20Is for England. Whereas in IPL 2022 he has taken 6 wickets.
