Ireland Pacer Craig Young has been Ruled Out Of The Upcoming T20 WC Due To an Injury

Ireland pacer Craig Young has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 WC due to injury.

Craig will miss out on a Repeat Injury:-

Young, who has been a key bowler for Ireland since his white-ball debut in 2014, will miss a recurrent injury.

He has been replaced in the team by 31-year-old Graham Hume, who made his international debut in July 2022 and has played only one T20I match so far.

Young will return to Ireland for further evaluation while Hume will fly to Australia immediately to benefit from Ireland’s two practice matches.

Experienced A Recurrence Of An Old Problem:-

Mark Rausa, Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services at Cricket Ireland, said: “Unfortunately, in Sydney for our T20 World Cup preparation camp, Craig experienced a recurrence of a chronic problem that we have been managing for quite some time. Huh.”

“While we thought we were on top of the issue, it sadly flared up after arriving in Sydney and starting training.

Craig will now return home for an evaluation with our medical experts to plan his rehab.”

Ireland belongs to Group B in the T20 World Cup and will start their campaign against Zimbabwe in Hobart on 17 October.

Before their main matches in the first round, they would play two warm-up matches – against Namibia on the 11th and against Sri Lanka in Melbourne on the 13th. The team will leave for Melbourne on 9 October.

Ireland participated in the 2021 edition of the tournament but was unable to qualify for the Super 12 stage after finishing third in their group. The top two teams from the two groups of the first round will advance to the next stage.
