Right now it may take some more time for him to return from injury. Away from cricket since September 2022, Bumrah did not even play in big tournaments like Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year.

He also failed to make it to the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2023), which is crucial for India to make it to the World Test Championship final. Now the chances of him playing in the IPL for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season are very slim.

The BCCI sources said:-

As per a report in Cricbuzz, Bumrah’s injury is serious enough that BCCI sources have said that he could miss a major chunk of cricket in the coming months including the WTC final.

The report further suggested that the BCCI wants the premier pacer to be fully fit for the ODI World Cup in October-November and they do not want to take any risk regarding his injury as he is still feeling uncomfortable.

Participated in T20 match against Australia:-

The right-arm fast bowler last featured in a T20I match against Australia at home on 25 September 2022. Since then, he has been rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
