Joffra Archer Will Not Play IPL 2024: ECB advised him to focus on the T20 World Cup. Mumbai Indians had bought Joffra Archer in IPL 2022 for a hefty sum of Rs 8 crore.

After which he was out due to injury, he played only five matches in the last season, due to which he was released by Mumbai Indians.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has advised Jofra Archer to skip next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) to handle the injured fast bowler’s assignments ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Archer, who has been suffering from several injuries, fractured his elbow again while playing for MI during the IPL in May.

The Cricketer Has Not Played Any Professional Cricket Since:-

The 28-year-old Barbados-born cricketer has not played any professional cricket since then and has not even played an ODI World Cup.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo “…the ECB believes it will be easier to manage Archer’s return if he remains under their care in April and May, rather than having him play for money in an IPL in India To try.

According to the report, he has signed a new two-year contract with the ECB, and ahead of the T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and the United States from June 4 next year, the board has opted to take greater control.

The Returned To England Less Than A Week Later:-

Archer briefly traveled to India for the World Cup but returned to England after less than a week due to elbow pain.

The ECB is hopeful that the fast bowler will be part of the England team for the T20 World Cup. The former England opener said, “We have given him a bet that we want him to be back fit and able to play for England.”

Current Managing Director (Men’s Cricket) Robert Key had said last month, “You start looking at things like the Ashes, T20 World Cup in two years, Joffra is very important in that.”
