Kieron Pollard Ruled Out Of T20 Blast Due To knee Surgery

Kieron Pollard has been ruled out of the rest of the T20I Blast due to knee surgery but is expected to be fit in time to play in the Hundred following knee surgery.

Suffered a knee injury in the T20 season:-

Pollard, 35, was a marquee to sign for Surrey along with his compatriot and close friend Sunil Narine as one of two overseas players but suffered a knee injury in their T20I season.

“Despite treatment, he has failed to improve significantly, and so the decision was made to seek a surgical opinion,” Surrey said in a statement.

He has had successful surgery on Tuesday morning:-

“He had a successful surgery yesterday morning, which will keep him off work for the next four to six weeks until he is rehabilitated.”

Surrey has already qualified for the quarter-finals of the Blast, with four group-stage games remaining, nine wins, and no result from their first ten matches.

Pollard scored 99 runs in his five innings at a strike rate of 141.42. And took one wicket and one catch.

“It’s very disappointing because we’ve been a major force. And I felt like I was parting of something special,” Pollard said.

“But I wish everyone the best of luck for the rest of the campaign. While I find myself fit and re-firing.”

Pollard, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, was signing by the London Spirit for £125,000 in the Hundred Draft. And is expecting to return in time to play for them when the tournament begins in early August.
